So excited to share the last of my Hawaii photos–these ones all that I got from my iPhone while on Oahu. Most of them are from a day spent out on the open water in kayaks with my aunt and cousin. We pushed off on Kailua Beach and paddled out to the Mokes–short for Mokulua, which is Hawaiian for “two islands.” The little islands are a sanctuary for a special kind of bird (which I never actually saw). But the paddle to and from was so enjoyable through the turquoise water. We paddled side by side and talked for the two hours it took to reach the islands. At one point, we could just see the clouds rolling in, and the water started to glow in the special way it does before a downpour. We got soaked in a rain shower, but I found it to be so glorious at the same time. It’s adventure and life and fun.
Once we got to the islands, we unpacked our picnic and ate lunch, then started to adventure around the side, which turned into some rock climbing and moving fast to avoid being swept away by some high surf. We found some natural pools built into the rock, and went for a quick dip. I hear there is a spot to cliff jump, but we never found it. Our kayak adventure was one of my favorite days! Oahu is surely a beautiful place.
